For this project I created a zine following the triad approach: me, something timeless, and some timely. Timeless things are big and constant. Timely things are smaller, personal and often current. I wanted to combine them together to make a compelling (and relevant) concept. The topics I wanted to combine were love and religion. I focused on the top 5 world religions and researched what they held more important in their teachings. I then looked into their views of love, specifically what each had to say about LGTBQIA+ love.
As a member and ally of the LGBTQIA+ community I think it's important to advocate for those who have been wronged and see all views of religion to be an open door to express understanding and healing, not seeing it as a barrier because of past miss-doings. The zine is filled with symbolic imagery, passages from different religious texts, and quotes from individuals of many walks of life.
This zine will be printed with riso in the near future, limited to the colors black, white, and red.
My personal beliefs have changed and grown dramatically over the years, and I've become even more interested in researching different world religions in the future. From my understanding all seem to have similar core beliefs, to love one another and do good in this world.
I do not own the rights to any of these images or text in the zine, I have digitally altered many of them.
